Getting Baptised at St Chad’s
Infant baptisms and thanksgivings are ways of thanking God for His gift of life, deciding to start your child on the journey of faith and asking for the Church’s support. St Chad’s welcomes everyone who is interested in having their child baptised or for a thanksgiving.
Thanksgivings and infant baptisms normally take place in our 11.00 am service. Families are encouraged to join us at any of our services so that you can get to know us and we you. When you get in contact, you’ll be invited to one of our informal “Baptism evenings” to discuss what the baptism vows mean, the service and any practical needs. At this time we discuss the meaning of the baptism vows and outline the differences between infant baptisms and thanksgivings.
Our services of Thanksgiving are for those who prefer not to have their baby or child baptised as an infant, but who want to thank God publicly for their child and ask His blessing on them and the family.
We will be able to offer you some dates at the Baptism evening, normally 3-6months ahead, and get you booked in.
