Chads News - 20th June 2024

Dear Church family,

Tomorrow is the longest day of the year and we are entering the joys of the summer season.  Many of our young people are finishing their exams, there are International cricket (& football) tournaments on, with Wimbledon and the Olympics not far away.

Members of our church family are already braving that trip to the garage to check on the camping kit for holidays and NewWine.

One exciting feature of this summer is Dave Hill and his family joining us as our curate.  Dave will be ordained deacon on Sunday 30th June at the same service that Elle Bird our former head of Youth & Children will be ordained.  Do please pray for them both in preparation for that day and more so for their years of ministry ahead.  With Dave and Elle both being ordained on a Sunday morning, a few of us will be there at Chester Cathedral to support them.  We look forward to welcoming the Hill family to St Chads on Sunday 7th July.

As I mentioned, a number of us are preparing camping kit and more for NewWine.  If you are coming to New Wine this summer, please could you let Katie, Jane or me know.  Part of the joy is experiencing the week together and being one big family where we can with regards to the practical ‘joys’ of camping.  There are still spaces and there is also a particular need for more people over 18 to be on team for the Gems and Pebbles groups (0-4 year olds). Might you be able to join that team?  Being on team at NewWine is a great experience, you’ll receive full training and a free ticket for the rest of the festival and you’ll be able to join in the afternoon Breakouts teaching & the evening celebrations and spend lots of the week with the St Chads church family.  So if you’d be interested in that, please get in touch with Katie or me soon, or encourage others to consider it.

Summer is a time for rest and building relationships, so how about at this point in the start of summer, praying and reflecting who might you want to invite around to get to know them better?  Hospitality is such a great kingdom value, so I encourage you to think about how this summer might be a chance to deepen friendships.

With love,

Richard
